Last year over 200,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer. This past December our mom became one of those women. With no family history of breast cancer we were all shocked with this news. Breast cancer is something that you think will never happen to you or someone that you love and care about. But as we all see it does and it will continue to happen.

The impact that having breast cancer can have on that person and the people around you is incredible. When our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer God really opened up our eyes to see what matters most in life. You don’t realize how much you rely on someone until you have had to face the fact that you could lose them. Seeing our mom go through a lumpectomy, double mastectomy and then through her chemo treatments was not easy. She still has a long haul ahead of her with treatments every week for the next year. But God has truly blessed us with an incredible Mother and role model that I will, by the grace of God continue to have for many more years to come!

This November I along with my sister will be walking in the 60 mile Breast Cancer 3 day walk. This is not just a walk for breast cancer, but rather a walk to help fight and find a cure for breast cancer. And to help support those who have battled cancer and lost the fight and for those like my Mom who will continue to fight it. My sister and I must raise $2,200 each before we are able to participate in this walk. All donations go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

We would love to know that we are walking to make a difference for many people’s lives.
